SharpLink to Deploy $200M in Ether on Consensys’ Linea, Tapping Institutional-Grade Staking and Restaking
October 29, 2025 — SharpLink Gaming (SBET) announced plans to gradually deploy $200 million worth of ether (ETH) on Consensys’ Linea Layer 2 network, leveraging Anchorage Digital, ether.fi, and EigenCloud to earn yield under institutional-grade controls.
The program, which will unfold over several years, aims to make SharpLink’s ETH treasury more productive through a phased, risk-managed strategy aligned with its compliance and governance framework. The company emphasized that the $200 million figure represents a long-term allocation target, not an immediate capital transfer.
According to SharpLink, Linea’s zkEVM-based infrastructure provides the scalability, composability, and cost-efficiency needed for institutional deployment. The initiative combines multiple yield sources — including native ETH staking, ether.fi restaking, and ecosystem incentives — to optimize returns while maintaining on-chain security.
Anchorage Digital to Oversee Custody
Custody and execution will be handled by Anchorage Digital Bank, a federally chartered crypto custodian. SharpLink described the setup as a “controls-first” model that integrates staking and DeFi incentives with traditional financial oversight — a key requirement for public-company treasuries operating in the crypto space.
Part of the yield will also be linked to EigenCloud, a service layer built on EigenLayer that rewards participants for securing autonomous verifiable services — including those tied to AI workloads inheriting Ethereum’s security guarantees.
Leadership and Ecosystem Commentary
SharpLink co-CEO Joseph Chalom said the initiative seeks to unlock staking and restaking opportunities “without sacrificing regulatory and operational safeguards.”
Joseph Lubin, Consensys founder and SharpLink’s chairman, said the project exemplifies how Linea can serve as a “productivity engine for institutional ether,” adding that similar models could guide future corporate deployments.
Expanding Into On-Chain Capital Markets
Looking ahead, SharpLink said it plans to work with Consensys on developing capital-markets infrastructure for Linea — including on-chain fundraising mechanisms, programmable liquidity tools, and tokenized equity models. These initiatives remain in the early stages of research and development.
