The Cardano Foundation and Brazilian technology company Blockforce have launched a live enterprise supply-chain verification system that uses Cardano as a public proof layer.
The platform is already operating with some of Brazil’s largest fashion groups and has anchored more than 500,000 supply-chain records on the Cardano blockchain.
The system addresses a common challenge in regulated supply chains: allowing independent parties to verify records without exposing confidential business information. A private database can preserve sensitive data but offers limited external proof, while publishing complete records on a public blockchain could expose supplier identities, prices and contract details.
Blockforce separates the underlying data from its public verification. Detailed records for each supply-chain stage are stored on a permissioned network accessible only to authorized participants. Cryptographic proofs of those records are then recorded on Cardano, enabling auditors, regulators and customers to confirm that information remains authentic without viewing the original data.
Lower Costs Push Cardano System Into Production
The expense of anchoring large numbers of records on a public blockchain has been a major obstacle to enterprise adoption. While the approach can work for small pilots, the costs can become significant when thousands of suppliers and hundreds of thousands of records are involved.
Blockforce and the Cardano Foundation said their joint engineering work reduced the cost of anchoring each record by 92%. They describe the reduction as a key factor in moving the technology from a pilot-stage concept to a production system capable of handling enterprise-scale volumes.
The platform has already anchored more than 500,000 records under the new model.
Blockforce’s technical documentation says the permissioned portion of the system runs on Hyperledger Fabric, with other storage infrastructure supporting the architecture.
Further technical details are provided in the Cardano Foundation’s Blockforce case study. The architecture includes the uVerify component and a batching process that combines certificates into Cardano transactions before they are anchored on-chain.
Guilherme Pereira, Ecosystem Growth Specialist for LATAM at the Cardano Foundation, described the development as an infrastructure achievement, emphasizing how the system combines public verifiability with the privacy requirements of enterprise supply chains.
