Ripple Prime has expanded its partnership with Brevan Howard, agreeing to provide the investment manager’s funds with multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing, and financing services across traditional and digital markets. The move strengthens Ripple’s presence in institutional financial services, though the agreement does not establish a direct benefit for XRP.
Ripple said the expanded partnership comes as major investment managers seek prime brokerage solutions capable of handling traditional and digital markets within a regulated, enterprise-grade environment. Brevan Howard is a global alternative investment manager with approximately $35 billion in assets under management and about 1,000 employees.
The firms already share a financial connection. Funds managed by Brevan Howard affiliates participated in Ripple’s $500 million strategic investment completed in 2025. Their expanded relationship comes as institutional investors increasingly demand infrastructure covering areas such as custody, trade execution, and financing.
Ripple Prime’s Role
The new mandate will give Brevan Howard funds access to multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing, and financing through Ripple Prime. The platform brings different asset classes and products together under one system, which Ripple says can help institutions improve capital efficiency and reduce operational complexity.
Specific details about the arrangement have not been released. Ripple and Brevan Howard have not identified the participating funds or asset classes, while fees, transaction volumes, and the expected implementation timeline also remain undisclosed. The available information therefore provides little indication of the deal’s eventual size.
Noel Kimmel, President of Ripple Prime, said the market has limited providers capable of delivering the next generation of prime services sought by sophisticated investors. He described Brevan Howard’s decision to work with Ripple Prime as recognition of the company’s competitive position and ability to operate across multiple asset classes.
Ripple says it has secured more than 85 licenses and offers a range of institutional services, including payments, custody, prime brokerage, and treasury management. Although Ripple identifies XRP and RLUSD as assets supporting its broader ecosystem, the Brevan Howard announcement does not state that either token will be used under the new arrangement.
Broader Institutional Expansion
The agreement primarily highlights Ripple’s expansion as an institutional infrastructure provider rather than serving as a direct XRP catalyst. By bringing traditional and digital market services together through one platform, Ripple Prime aims to offer institutions greater operational efficiency and easier access to capital.
Brevan Howard Group COO Alan McGroarty said Ripple has developed a differentiated platform that the firm expects to improve operational ease and capital efficiency for its investment teams. However, the company did not provide specific figures showing the amount of savings or efficiency gains expected from the relationship.
McGroarty also highlighted the increasing convergence of traditional finance and digital assets, emphasizing the need for institutional-grade infrastructure as the two markets become more connected. Ripple said the expanded agreement builds on the relationship established through Brevan Howard affiliates’ participation in its 2025 investment.
For XRP investors, the distinction is important. Brevan Howard’s adoption of Ripple Prime could increase Ripple’s institutional reach, but it does not prove that XRP is necessary for the platform’s brokerage, clearing, or financing services. There is also no confirmation that the agreement will generate direct value for XRP.
The deal nevertheless adds to Ripple’s broader institutional expansion. Its regulated positioning, more than 85 reported licenses, and growing prime brokerage operations show the company’s continued push to serve large financial institutions across traditional and digital markets.
