Samsung Electronics America plans to launch USDC transfers through Samsung Wallet in the final week of October 2026, bringing stablecoin functionality to eligible Galaxy users in the United States. The company says the rollout will cover a potential base of 82 million compatible devices.
Samsung said users will be able to transfer USDC from the wallet to supported crypto wallets internationally or send funds to eligible bank accounts across more than 60 countries. Bank recipients could receive the money in their local currency, allowing them to accept transfers without holding a cryptocurrency wallet.
The company is positioning the service as a more convenient way to access stablecoins without requiring users to set up a separate crypto application or personally manage private keys. Samsung’s large installed device base provides significant potential reach, but actual usage will depend on eligibility requirements, supported destinations, and consumer demand for the service.
Fees, Custody and Transfer Infrastructure
Samsung said transfers of USDC to compatible external crypto wallets will not carry a Samsung-imposed fee. However, the receiving wallet or exchange could charge its own fee. Transfer times will depend on blockchain network conditions, and transactions involving sanctioned jurisdictions will not be supported.
Bank transfers will have separate charges based on the destination country and transfer amount. Before completing a transaction, Samsung Wallet will display the applicable fee and an estimated delivery time. Availability will also depend on whether the destination country and recipient bank meet the required criteria.
Bastion will operate the cross-border payment infrastructure, while Coinbase will act as Bastion’s official sub-custodian and safeguard USDC through Coinbase Prime Vault. Samsung said regulated partners will provide the stablecoin accounts, custody, and money-transfer services.
Samsung itself will not serve as a bank, money transmitter, or digital-asset custodian and will not hold customer funds.
U.S. Eligibility Rules
The initial rollout will be limited to eligible U.S. residents who are at least 18 years old, have a Samsung Account, and use a compatible Galaxy device running Android 13 or later. Customers must register for the service, complete identity verification, and enable biometric authentication on their registered device.
When users select the “Buy Stablecoin” option, Samsung said USDC will be presented as the default dollar stablecoin. This does not necessarily mean users will have access to a complete purchase and withdrawal system within Samsung Wallet. The company has not disclosed every available funding method or confirmed that users can perform the entire dollar-to-USDC and USDC-to-dollar conversion process inside the app.
Users will need to select a supported cryptocurrency wallet or eligible bank destination when transferring funds. Supported networks, countries, and recipient-account requirements will determine where transfers can be made. For bank transactions, users will see the applicable fee and estimated delivery time before confirming the transfer.
USDC will be the first stablecoin available through the feature, with the U.S. launch planned for the final week of October. Samsung also said it could expand the service in the future to support online and in-store tap-to-pay purchases and additional international markets.
The rollout represents a significant distribution opportunity for USDC through Samsung’s mobile ecosystem, but its eventual adoption will depend on geographic availability, eligibility, supported destinations, and whether users choose Samsung Wallet over existing crypto and payment platforms.
