BTC Bounces Higher as Nasdaq Surges and KOSPI Recovers Ahead of Fed Decision

Bitcoin is climbing toward $81,000, advancing nearly 2% as market participants position themselves ahead of the Federal Reserve’s latest FOMC announcement. The recovery follows a recent decline below $80,000, when uncertainty over monetary policy weighed on cryptocurrency prices.

The improvement in sentiment has coincided with gains across global equity markets. The Nasdaq Composite rose 1.18%, while the S&P 500 increased 0.60% at Tuesday’s close. South Korea’s KOSPI posted a stronger rebound, surging 6.63% to move above 6,000 points as optimism over semiconductor demand lifted Asian stocks.

However, the rally faces a key test as the Federal Reserve prepares to announce its decision. Most traders expect interest rates to remain unchanged, but sticky inflation and rising Treasury yields continue to fuel concerns about further tightening. Bitcoin’s response could depend on how policymakers describe the outlook for interest rates in the months ahead.

Bitcoin Gains as Nasdaq and KOSPI Stage a Recovery

Bitcoin’s upward move comes as technology stocks regain strength in major financial markets. The Nasdaq Composite finished Tuesday at 26,477.81, while the S&P 500 closed at 7,722.60. Both indexes advanced as investors increased their holdings in technology companies, particularly those connected to artificial intelligence.

South Korea’s market recorded an even larger gain. The KOSPI rose 6.63% to settle at 6,012.44, helped by record quarterly earnings from SK Hynix and its shareholder-return plans. The advance also highlighted renewed confidence in demand for AI-focused semiconductor products.

Stronger equity markets could support Bitcoin if investors continue moving into risk-sensitive assets. Nevertheless, BTC has not yet recovered the $82,000 level, which remains an important hurdle for confirming a stronger bullish trend.

Fed Policy Uncertainty Keeps Rate-Hike Risks in Focus

The upcoming FOMC announcement remains a major factor for Bitcoin traders, even though expectations strongly favor a pause in rate adjustments.

According to Polymarket, the probability of the Fed holding rates steady stands at 95%, while the odds of a 25-basis-point increase are approximately 4%. CME FedWatch data also favor a pause, assigning a 91% probability to unchanged rates.

Beyond the immediate decision, investors will examine Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s comments for clues about the December meeting. Inflation rose to 3.7% year over year in September, and energy-price pressures connected to the Iran war have made the central bank’s inflation challenge more difficult.

A rate hold could still disappoint markets if the accompanying message is more hawkish than expected. Suggestions that borrowing costs may remain high for an extended period or increase again could lift Treasury yields and strengthen the U.S. dollar. Both developments could reduce demand for speculative assets and limit Bitcoin’s recovery.

A more measured tone, however, could improve sentiment. If the Fed maintains current rates while signaling less urgency to tighten further, investors may become more comfortable increasing their exposure to risk assets.

Can BTC Break Above $82,000?

Bitcoin’s next challenge is to build on its move above $80,000 and establish a more convincing recovery. The $82,000 region remains a key resistance level that traders will watch for signs of renewed buying pressure.

A decisive move above this threshold could open the way toward $84,000. If BTC fails to overcome resistance, the market could retreat toward $80,000 and test whether buyers are prepared to defend that level.

The FOMC announcement may trigger considerable short-term price swings, but its effect on Bitcoin’s broader trend is not always clear-cut. Markets tend to anticipate expected policy decisions, meaning unexpected changes in the Fed’s outlook can have a greater influence than the decision itself.

If interest rates remain unchanged as expected, Bitcoin could experience intraday volatility without establishing a lasting direction.

Past price movements, as shown in the chart above, also demonstrate that BTC has no consistent reaction to FOMC meetings. Bitcoin has declined after some rate holds before recovering, while other announcements have been followed by gains despite unchanged rates or tighter monetary policy.
