Acquiring 1,088 Bitcoin, Metaplanet’s Crypto Vault Surpasses $930 Million

Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Treasury by 1,088 BTC, Now Holding Over 8,888 BTC Valued at $930M+

Japan-based Metaplanet disclosed on Monday that it has acquired an additional 1,088 bitcoins, bringing its total bitcoin holdings to over 8,888 BTC—valued at more than $930 million at current market prices.

This latest purchase cost approximately 16.885 billion yen (about $117.5 million), with an average acquisition price near 15.5 million yen ($108,051) per bitcoin, according to official company disclosures.

Since adopting its Bitcoin treasury policy in April 2024, Metaplanet has aggressively increased its BTC reserves, establishing itself as the leading corporate bitcoin holder in Asia and ranking within the global top ten.

In 2025 alone, Metaplanet has accumulated 7,126 BTC, steadily advancing toward its ambitious target of 10,000 BTC by year-end. The recent $50 million zero-interest bond issuance has provided additional funds for these bitcoin purchases without affecting existing shareholders’ stakes.

The firm reports a year-to-date BTC yield of 66.3%, with gains totaling 2,684 BTC—equivalent to roughly 40.5 billion yen in value.

Bitcoin was trading just above $105,000 during Asian market hours on Monday, showing minimal fluctuation over the last day.
