A significant network outage at Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Tuesday led to temporary service disruptions for major crypto platforms, including Binance and KuCoin, with users facing issues accessing withdrawals and executing trades.
Binance quickly acknowledged the problem, explaining in an X post that “a temporary network interruption in the AWS data center” was impacting some of the platform’s services. While some transactions continued successfully, others failed, and users were advised to retry.
Withdrawals were restored on Binance in just over five minutes, though reports of ongoing trading issues persisted. Both Binance and KuCoin users experienced difficulties, with some transactions unable to process.
The outage also extended to other Web3 services, with wallet provider Rabby and on-chain analytics tool DeBank reporting complete service downtime.
As a critical cloud provider for many digital businesses, AWS’s downtime can have a widespread impact. Since AWS handles everything from data storage to transaction processing, disruptions can reverberate across platforms reliant on its infrastructure, such as those in the crypto space.
AWS has not yet released an official statement on the cause or timeline for resolving the issue.
