HIVE Digital Surpasses 10 EH/s, Accelerates Global Hashrate Expansion with Clean Energy Focus
HIVE Digital Technologies announced a major hashrate milestone in May, reaching a peak of 10.4 EH/s, driven by the deployment of its new 100-megawatt hydroelectric facility in Paraguay. This marks a 58% month-over-month increase in computing power, reinforcing the firm’s status as a top-tier global bitcoin miner.
The company mined 139 BTC during the month, with an average daily output of 4.5 BTC and fleet-wide efficiency holding steady at 20 J/TH. HIVE’s monthly average hashrate of 8.5 EH/s now represents more than 1% of the global Bitcoin network, a significant benchmark in a post-halving landscape.
With eyes set on scaling to 18 EH/s by summer and 25 EH/s before year-end, HIVE is strategically aligning itself with long-term trends favoring energy-efficient, ESG-compliant mining operations. The company is leveraging hydroelectric power not just in Paraguay, but also across its facilities in Canada and Sweden.
CEO Aydin Kilic noted that operational upgrades and hardware optimization could lift output to 12 BTC per day in Q4, while reducing the cost of production below $50,000 per bitcoin. The firm’s Buzz division, focused on AI infrastructure, continues to diversify HIVE’s revenue base beyond traditional mining.
HIVE’s stock surged 13% on Friday, buoyed by bitcoin’s rally past $105,000 and growing institutional interest in clean-powered mining firms.
