Prediction market traders now view Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a stronger Democratic contender for the 2028 presidential race than former Vice President Kamala Harris, according to decentralized platform Polymarket.
Contracts pricing Johnson’s chances of securing the nomination trade at 7 cents, implying a 7% probability. That ranks him fourth overall, behind Gavin Newsom, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Pete Buttigieg. Harris is priced at 5%, tied with Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, while Tim Walz, Michelle Obama, and Mark Cuban each sit at 1% odds.
Polymarket, which lets users speculate on political and financial events through tradeable outcome shares, recently secured backing from 1789 Capital and added Donald Trump Jr. to its advisory board.
Johnson’s Prospects
Johnson has long been linked to presidential ambitions. In 2023, he revealed that political figures approached him after a poll found 46% of Americans would support a White House run.
“I was really blown away and honored,” Johnson said on Trevor Noah’s What Now? podcast. “At the end of 2022, I got a visit from the parties asking me if I was going to run, and if I could run.”
While Johnson has branded himself a centrist independent, he endorsed Joe Biden in 2020 but refrained from doing so in 2024. With 392 million Instagram followers and a global profile built from wrestling and Hollywood, Johnson has a communications platform that rivals most career politicians.
