Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings With $13M Purchase, Now Among Top 15 Corporate BTC Holders
Japanese investment firm Metaplanet (3350) has added 135 more Bitcoin (BTC) to its balance sheet, spending 1.94 billion yen ($13 million) on the latest acquisition. This brings the company’s total Bitcoin holdings to 2,235 BTC, securing its position among the top 15 publicly traded companies with the largest Bitcoin reserves.
The firm’s latest purchase was executed at an average price of 14,360,449 yen per BTC, while its total average acquisition cost stands at 12,441,856 yen ($81,195 per BTC). With Bitcoin currently trading near $89,000, Metaplanet has seen a 23.2% return on its BTC investment so far this year.
Despite its growing Bitcoin exposure, Metaplanet’s stock dipped 3% to 6,010 yen, though it remains within 20% of its peak price.
Dylan Le Clair, the company’s director of Bitcoin strategy, revealed that Metaplanet has successfully raised $47 million in equity within the first four trading days of its “21m Plan,” completing 5.54% of its target.
