Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings With New $13.4M Bond Issuance
Metaplanet, a publicly traded Japanese firm, has issued 2 billion yen ($13.4 million) in zero-interest bonds to further increase its Bitcoin reserves. The bonds, secured by stock acquisition rights, were fully subscribed by Evo Fund and are set for full redemption on September 17.
A portion of the proceeds has been used to purchase 150 BTC, valued at approximately $12.5 million, reinforcing Metaplanet’s aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy. This follows last week’s purchase of 162 BTC for $13.5 million, acquired at an average price of $83,123 per BTC.
With this latest accumulation, Metaplanet now holds a total of 3,200 BTC, worth around $265 million, solidifying its position as the 10th-largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder, per BitcoinTreasuries.net.
Despite Bitcoin trading nearly 24% below its all-time high from January, Metaplanet continues to leverage strategic bond issuances to capitalize on market corrections and expand its BTC holdings.
