Ripple and Chipper Cash Partner to Strengthen Cross-Border Payments in Africa Using XRP

Ripple Joins Forces With Chipper Cash to Boost Cross-Border Payments in Africa

Chipper Cash, a top payments provider serving five million users across nine African nations, has announced a strategic partnership with Ripple to revolutionize international money transfers using blockchain technology.

By adopting Ripple Payments, powered by XRP, Chipper Cash seeks to enable faster, more cost-efficient cross-border transactions compared to conventional banking methods. The collaboration aims to facilitate round-the-clock access to global remittances, minimizing transfer costs and improving transaction speed for users.

“Our partnership with Chipper Cash represents a major step forward in Ripple’s expansion across Africa,” said Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa. “As blockchain technology continues gaining traction, we are excited to bring our cutting-edge payment solutions to businesses and individuals throughout the region.”

This initiative strengthens Ripple’s growing footprint in Africa, following its 2023 partnership with Onafriq, a payments network that connects various African markets.

Despite the announcement, XRP has seen a 4.5% decline in the past 24 hours, reflecting a broader market downturn.
