Trump Threatens Harsher Tariffs on EU, Canada Over Economic Disputes
President Donald Trump warned that he would impose even steeper tariffs on European Union (EU) and Canadian imports if they engage in actions that negatively impact the U.S. economy.
“If the EU and Canada work together to hurt the United States economically, they will face tariffs far greater than what is currently planned. The U.S. has been their greatest ally, and we will protect our interests!” Trump stated in a late-night post on Truth Social.
Markets showed little immediate reaction to the warning. Bitcoin (BTC) remained stable just below $88,000, while Germany’s DAX futures dipped 0.3%, and U.S. stock futures traded flat.
Analysts believe investor confidence remains intact due to Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s recent remarks, suggesting any inflationary impact from tariffs could be temporary.
