Metaplanet Boosts Bitcoin Reserves by 780 BTC, Total Surpasses 17,000

Metaplanet Adds 780 Bitcoin, Boosts Total Holdings to 17,132 BTC

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has expanded its bitcoin holdings with the purchase of 780 additional BTC, bringing its total reserves to 17,132 BTC — the largest held by any publicly listed company outside the United States.

According to a disclosure filed Monday, the Tokyo-based company paid an average of 17.5 million yen (approximately $118,176) per bitcoin, valuing the entire stash at roughly $2 billion at current market prices.

Metaplanet tracks shareholder value using a proprietary metric known as BTC Yield, which measures performance relative to equity dilution. For the July 1–28 period, BTC Yield stood at 22.5%. For the quarter ended June 30, it rose to 129.4%, up from 95.6% the previous quarter.

Since adopting a bitcoin-centric treasury model inspired by MicroStrategy, Metaplanet has aggressively increased its exposure to the digital asset. Its cumulative average purchase price stands at ¥15 million (around $99,732) per BTC.

Following the announcement, shares of Metaplanet rose 5% to close at 1,240 yen on Monday, outperforming Japan’s Nikkei 225 index, which declined 1.1%.
