TRUMP, XRP, and SOL Options Suggest Altcoins Could Surge Before Year-End: PowerTrade

Crypto options platform PowerTrade reports that traders are positioning for a strong year-end rally across several altcoins, including SOL, XRP, TRUMP, HYPE, and LINK.

According to PowerTrade, SOL, XRP, and TRUMP are expected to lead the charge, with heavy call option activity for December expirations. “Traders were placing bets on altcoin season running into year-end, with strong upside interest in AEVO, AR, DOGE, ENA, HYPE, LINK, MOG, PAXG, SOL, TIA, TRUMP, and ZRO,” said Bernd Sischka, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer at PowerTrade.

The platform recorded over $1 billion in trading volume in August, with roughly 68% in call options, reflecting bullish sentiment. Solana saw significant call buying at strike prices above current levels, signaling expectations of a breakout in Q4. XRP experienced large December call trades, suggesting optimism around regulatory clarity or ecosystem developments, while TRUMP options attracted massive call spreads, anticipating heightened volatility.

Meme coins like DOGE and PEPE drew mostly retail interest, whereas established altcoins such as WIF showed rising open interest, indicating institutional accumulation. PowerTrade highlighted that institutions are increasingly active, executing block trades on Bitcoin, Ether, and altcoins, combining hedging and speculative positions.

While smaller than platforms like Deribit, PowerTrade differentiates itself by offering options on lesser-known altcoins, allowing traders to hedge risk and capitalize on price movements often unavailable on larger exchanges.
