You don’t need a large crypto portfolio to secure a chance to dine with former President Donald Trump at his exclusive Washington, D.C. members-only club.
The team behind the Trump memecoin clarified on Thursday that the top 220 token holders, with the smallest wallet holding just $420 worth of TRUMP, are eligible to participate in the “Dinner with Trump” competition. This clarification counters rumors suggesting that only those with six-figure token holdings would qualify.
“We’d like to clear up some confusion that’s been circulating on X and in the media,” the team posted on their official X account. “You do not need $300K+ to enter (you don’t); and there is no token unlock happening for this competition (there’s not).”
The TRUMP token surged by 70% this week, trading at around $12 by Thursday, primarily driven by the excitement surrounding the “Dinner with Trump” event, as reported by CoinDesk.
Rumors had spread on X suggesting that only holders of more than $300,000 worth of TRUMP tokens could participate. Others thought the 220th-ranked wallet on a blockchain explorer would be the cutoff. However, the team denied both claims, stating that users must register via the official leaderboard, and that only time-weighted holdings during the competition period will be considered.
Currently, the top wallet on the leaderboard, known as “Sun,” holds over 1.1 million TRUMP tokens, worth almost $14 million. The 220th spot, which qualifies for the competition, is held by “HAR” with just 35.3 TRUMP tokens, approximately $420.
The leaderboard also features 25 VIP wallets, with the cutoff set at over $400,000 worth of TRUMP tokens.
The team also addressed concerns over the token unlock process, assuring that both the cliff unlock and subsequent daily unlocks will remain locked for 90 days, extending well beyond the competition’s conclusion.
“We want to reassure everyone that the tokens from the cliff unlock and the subsequent daily unlocks will remain locked for 90 days,” they confirmed.
