Franck Muller, the prestigious Swiss watchmaker, has launched a groundbreaking limited edition of 1,111 timepieces that feature embedded QR codes linking directly to Solana blockchain wallets.
Designed for crypto aficionados, these watches allow owners to carry their Solana wallet on their wrist, bridging traditional luxury craftsmanship with modern Web3 technology. Each watch is priced at 20,000 Swiss francs (around $24,300), reflecting both exclusivity and innovation.
Despite the allure of this “phygital” concept—combining physical design with digital identity—the launch raises safety concerns amid a recent surge in attacks targeting crypto holders. This year alone has seen several alarming incidents, including a failed kidnapping attempt involving the family of Pierre Noizat, CEO of crypto exchange Paymium, which was captured on social media.
Other notable cases include the abduction of a crypto millionaire’s father in the same region, who was eventually rescued after suffering serious injuries, and the kidnapping of Ledger co-founder David Balland and his wife earlier this year, from which they were thankfully freed.
While Franck Muller’s collection celebrates blockchain culture and serves as a bold statement of crypto identity, the visible display of digital assets through such luxury items may deter potential buyers concerned about personal security.
