Bitcoin’s implied volatility has fallen to its lowest point since the Binance hack as BTC approaches $78,600. Meanwhile, Zcash is experiencing increased derivatives activity, with futures open interest rising 28% ahead of its NU7 network upgrade.
Options traders have started closing the hedging positions they accumulated ahead of the US midterm elections. This shift has reduced expectations of sharp Bitcoin price movements, bringing implied volatility to its weakest level since the Binance breach. Bitcoin has simultaneously recovered to approximately $78,570.
Deribit’s DVOL index, which measures the market’s expected volatility over the next 30 days, dropped to 37.03 earlier in the day. For comparison, the index was at 40.76 around midday Tuesday as Americans began voting in the midterm elections.
The decline in volatility has coincided with a recovery in Bitcoin’s market price. BTC was trading near $78,570 on Binance, gaining 3.7% from its overnight bottom of $75,736 as election results began to emerge.
Altcoin derivatives markets are showing stronger speculative activity. Zcash futures open interest on OKX climbed 28% in a single day to $196 million, with the NU7 network upgrade approaching in approximately 36 hours.
Now that the election uncertainty has passed, traders are assessing whether Bitcoin can regain the $80,000 level and whether alternative cryptocurrencies can sustain their recent gains.

Bitcoin News: Options Market Signals a Bullish Shift
Bitcoin options data suggests traders are preparing for a relatively stable month, with positioning leaning toward further price gains. The midterm elections generated considerably less volatility than the Binance hack.
Deribit’s DVOL index reached 44.25 approximately four hours after the exchange hack. In contrast, the indicator peaked at only 40.89 around the US election period.
The latest options data also shows a preference for bullish exposure. Deribit recorded 193,024 BTC in call open interest against 132,544 BTC in puts, resulting in a put-to-call ratio of 0.69. Call options also maintained an advantage over put contracts during the previous 24 hours.
The November 27 expiration has attracted a particularly large $90,000 call position involving 4,484 BTC. Meanwhile, the largest put position is concentrated at the $75,000 strike, accounting for 2,880 BTC.
Prediction market participants are also tracking several potential Bitcoin price targets:
- $80,000 this month: 85.5%
- $85,000: 39.5%
- $90,000: 15.5%
- A decline toward $75,000: 60.5%
Despite the bullish options positioning, futures traders remain more reserved.
Bitcoin open interest on OKX rose 4.2% over 24 hours to $3.86 billion. However, the long-to-short account ratio declined from 2.74 to 1.88, indicating that bullish positioning has weakened.
Hyperliquid funding rates remain at 0.01% every eight hours, the standard rate. This suggests that leveraged traders are not yet demonstrating particularly strong demand for long exposure.
Institutional flows provide another indication of cautious sentiment. US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $115.56 million in net outflows on November 3, extending their 30-day withdrawal total to $1.32 billion. Spot Ether ETFs also experienced $85.35 million in withdrawals.
Bitcoin Price Analysis: Will BTC Break Above $80,000?
Bitcoin’s latest recovery has brought attention back to its major technical indicators. The cryptocurrency briefly declined to $75,736 overnight before attracting buyers near its 200-day exponential moving average of $76,530.
BTC has avoided closing a daily candle below this moving average since the Binance hack, making the indicator an important reference point for traders assessing downside risks.
The next major challenge is the 50-day EMA at $80,076. Bitcoin remains roughly $1,500 below this level, which represents immediate overhead resistance. It also closely matches the $80,000 target that Polymarket traders currently consider likely to be reached this month.
Several technical levels could influence Bitcoin’s next move:
- $80,076: The declining 50-day EMA and immediate resistance.
- $81,971: The October 29 high, which marked the previous rally’s peak before the Binance hack.
- $76,530: The 200-day EMA and a key support reference.
- $75,736: The latest overnight low, followed by the September bottom at $74,968.
Zcash Leads Altcoin Leverage Growth Before NU7
Zcash is attracting increased attention from derivatives traders as the NU7 upgrade approaches. Its OKX futures open interest jumped 28% to $196 million over 24 hours. The cryptocurrency also maintains a substantial derivatives presence on Hyperliquid, where open interest has reached approximately $662 million.
The upcoming network upgrade is emerging as a potential catalyst for market activity. The Zcash Foundation’s Zebra 7.0.0 release is expected to activate NU7 at block height 3,543,405. This activation level was incorporated into the Zcash specifications on October 21.
NEAR has advanced 11%, even though its open interest has remained relatively unchanged. This suggests that direct spot-market demand is playing a larger role in the rally. Trading volume on Binance reached $108 million, close to XRP’s $111 million. However, preliminary figures indicated that NEAR’s US ETF recorded $3.60 million in outflows on Tuesday.
Ethena has climbed 10% while its open interest declined 3.2%. This combination suggests that bearish traders are reducing their short positions, potentially contributing to the token’s upward momentum.
Overall, Bitcoin’s declining implied volatility indicates that traders are becoming less concerned about election-related uncertainty. However, continued ETF withdrawals and weaker futures positioning suggest that market participants remain cautious about the strength of the recovery. Zcash’s upcoming NU7 upgrade and the performance of other altcoins could provide clues about whether the market is preparing for another rally or entering a period of consolidation.
