Bitcoin Signals a Technical Turnaround Ahead of Ethereum’s Glamsterdam

Bitcoin, Ethereum and the broader crypto market enter the week with several catalysts in view, ranging from key technical levels and U.S. economic data to Ethereum’s next major testnet upgrade.

Bitcoin recovered above $86,000 early Monday and briefly moved near $87,000 before reversing lower. The move put BTC within reach of an eight-month high, with traders now watching the U.S. dollar for indications of whether the cryptocurrency can push higher or consolidate its recent gains.

Bitcoin’s trend structure is also showing signs of improvement. Its 50-, 100- and 200-day moving averages are approaching a fully bullish alignment, a configuration not seen since 2025. A confirmed setup would provide additional technical support for the recovery that has unfolded over the past three months.

The economic calendar brings several events that could influence rate expectations and risk appetite. Investors will receive the September FOMC minutes, U.S. jobless claims and consumer credit data, alongside eurozone retail sales and preliminary U.S. consumer sentiment.

Ethereum developers will meanwhile focus on Sepolia, where the “Glamsterdam” upgrade is scheduled for testing. The deployment is intended to provide a dress rehearsal for proposed mainnet changes involving account abstraction and data availability.

Token Events

Aave: Aave is considering a proposal to let Sentora manage an independent lending market on its platform under a 50/50 revenue-sharing arrangement. The Aave Request for Final Comment (ARFC) would establish a framework for Sentora to operate externally curated Hub and Spoke instances under Aave V4, with Ethereum proposed as the first deployment.

Under the plan, Sentora would independently set collateral choices, risk parameters and interest-rate curves outside the Aave DAO’s core risk mandate. The DAO would retain smart-contract administrative ownership and receive half of the revenue. Voting ends Oct. 5.

AirSwap: The community is voting on whether Consensys should temporarily suspend its automated AST sales if the token falls below the company’s self-imposed minimum price. The sales are intended to cover operational expenses. Voting ends Oct. 5.

Derive: A proposed DIP would raise the share of applicable protocol fees directed to weekly DRV buybacks from 35% to 50%. The proposal would leave the existing execution schedule and buyback process unchanged. Voting ends Oct. 5.

Balancer: A joint treasury resolution tied to Balancer’s recent wind-down plan is up for a vote. It seeks to resolve token-swap commitments between BalancerDAO and CoW DAO and establish the orderly return and pro-rata distribution of treasury-held COW and BAL. Voting ends Oct. 6.
