Crypto Week Ahead: U.S. Jobs Report and Digital Ruble in Focus
Crypto markets enter September with investors watching the U.S. labor market closely. Friday’s August jobs report is expected to be the week’s biggest macro event after July payrolls fell by 23,000 and revisions for May and June reduced employment by a combined 103,000.
ADP private payrolls and the JOLTS report on job openings will provide earlier signals on labor-market conditions. A weaker employment picture could lower expectations for another Federal Reserve rate hike and potentially pressure Treasury yields and the dollar. Stronger data could reinforce expectations for tighter monetary policy.
Russia is also moving into the first major stage of its digital-ruble rollout this week. The development coincides with the closing of the Bank of Russia’s consultation on proposed rules for ruble-denominated stablecoins.
In the U.K., lawmakers are also wrapping up an inquiry into banking and payment restrictions affecting cryptocurrency businesses.

Governance and Token Unlocks
Several prominent protocols have governance votes closing during the week.
Cardano is considering changes to its Constitutional Committee and network parameters, while Ethena is voting on a mechanism that could direct protocol revenue toward ENA buybacks. Arbitrum is weighing Fast Feed, and Sushi is seeking approval for its proposed tokenomics changes and liquidity deployment.
Lisk’s governance vote remains open until Sept. 8 and includes proposals to shut down its DAO, burn 100 million LSK tokens and allow unstaking without penalties.
Token unlocks could also affect market supply. Sui has a Sept. 1 release worth around $10.23 million, while Ethena’s Sept. 5 unlock is valued at approximately $28.39 million.
There are no major confirmed token launches scheduled for the week.
Earnings and Conferences
Cango is due to report earnings after the market closes Sept. 1, followed by Canaan before the market opens Sept. 3.
The industry event schedule includes Origin Seoul 2026 through Sept. 2, Global Blockchain Congress in London on Sept. 3-4, Common S3nse in Amsterdam on Sept. 4-5 and FUTUREMODE in Taipei from Sept. 4-6.
Friday’s Jobs Data Could Set the Tone
The August employment report will be the key market event. Payroll growth and unemployment data could influence expectations for the Fed’s next move at a time when traders are already reassessing the path of U.S. interest rates.
A weaker report could reduce rate-hike expectations and offer support to bitcoin and other risk assets. A stronger reading could have the opposite effect by strengthening the dollar, lifting Treasury yields and increasing pressure on crypto markets.
