Ripple Bets on AI Agents as Part of $1B Corporate Treasury Plan

Ripple is adding AI-powered agents to its corporate treasury platform, giving finance teams software that can track cash balances, monitor risk, review forecasts and recommend financial actions. However, the system still requires a human to approve every action before it is carried out.

The new GSmart features are integrated into Ripple Treasury, formerly known as GTreasury. Ripple acquired the platform in October as part of its $1 billion expansion into the corporate treasury sector.

GSmart can oversee treasury functions such as liquidity management, forecasting and reconciliation. The agents can detect issues, suggest possible solutions and reference the company policy supporting their recommendations. Ripple emphasized that no transaction or other action will be executed automatically without human authorization.

The company said its system also separates financial calculations from AI-based analysis. Deterministic software performs the calculations, while AI is used to interpret policies, identify patterns and provide explanations for its recommendations.

GSmart was first introduced in June 2025, before Ripple acquired GTreasury. The latest release expands the technology across additional treasury functions and adds Knowledge Studio, a policy-focused layer designed to provide context for AI recommendations.

Ripple has also introduced Ask GSmart, which allows finance teams to query corporate financial data through the platform.

Adoption of the broader tools is already significant, according to Ripple. The company said 60% of eligible customers have activated Risk Insights, while 44% are using Forecast Insights.

The AI rollout also strengthens the strategy behind Ripple’s acquisition of GTreasury. Earlier this year, CoinDesk reported that Ripple had begun adding digital assets to its treasury software, allowing corporate finance departments to manage crypto alongside traditional cash.

The platform now supports both traditional and digital assets, giving Ripple a broader role in corporate treasury management while bringing AI capabilities into the same financial workflow.
