Empery Digital Trims Crypto Exposure, Sells Half Its Bitcoin Stack

The move underscores a strategic pivot, with the struggling company shifting away from its bitcoin treasury model and toward AI data center investments.

Empery Digital said Friday it sold 1,400 bitcoin at about $62,200 per coin, raising roughly $87.1 million.

Earlier in July, the firm disclosed it needed $65 million to secure a 25% stake in a group acquiring a Midwest site slated for conversion into an AI data center.

Empery was part of the wave of SPAC-backed firms launched during the 2025 digital asset treasury boom. Since then, the sector has struggled, with most companies seeing their share prices fall by 90% or more from their highs.

In what may point to a broader market bottoming phase, a growing number of these firms are now selling the crypto they accumulated during that period.

Empery still holds 1,514 bitcoin but said it has no plans to increase its position and may sell more BTC to fund other investments.

Looking ahead, co-CEO Ryan Lane said the company intends to keep allocating capital to similar large-scale, hyperscaler-backed opportunities.
